Our council was given 80K just to consult and promote SEN and DIS families to 'use' childcare, not for spending on childcare you understand no no no sillly...
Heather  : (10 September 2010 - 03:19 PM) We were told we had to get two rejections from (inappropriate, cheap)colleges to stand a chance, I got 4, walked in, sent Cameron off to look round with his Dad and told them how it was, what a nightmare mother I was and how i would be on their case every single second of every single day and were they prepared to meet my son's requirements? or could they kindly provide a rejection letter by tomorrow? Shouldn't have to do it should we. GRRRR

Its crazy all trying to be positive and then you have to put down in black and white the reality GRRRR

kate  : (09 September 2010 - 07:34 PM) you deffo need to start in year 5. i would suggest you get appointments for all the possible schools and write a list of all the things that are great for harry at the one you want. and all the reasons why the others are not at all suitable! bit late for you to do that in 3 weeks tho alex. what a nightmare!!
kate  : (09 September 2010 - 07:32 PM) we were actuall very lucky with joseph. when he started our school aged 3 he lived in birmingham then moved to solihull (out of area) but they continued to fund his place. for secondary he had to go to a solihull school tho, but as there are only 4 special schools in the borough and 2 of those are unsuitable. we just had to chose from 2. the one we chose is perfect for joe and the LA were very good in allowing parental choice even tho the other SLD schoolwas closer to his house. (here they usually choose the closest suitable school). he also has a black cab of his own, with a driver and 2 escorts. SS pay the extra for him to come to our house 10 nights a month. quite incredible really as we expected a huge fight!!

It's a joke, today I was told that if M has BM he can't come into school for at least 24 hours. I said that's worse than mainstream, what's the point of that then? Thanks Heather, will try later x

Xerox  Annual Reviews in May, just received the paperwork with now only 3 weeks to fill in secondary forms is this a record in poor home school communication or a joke or something - ironically it says the transition process needs to be expedited

zoe  I watched First do no harm last night and it moved me to tears from start to finish it was all very close a litle to close for monfort but a really good film and I am glad I watched it. Definatly gave me some more hope.
